Indic Roots brings the kids closer to their Indic culture by introducing them to seven key themes in the app through engaging artwork and simple drag and match games. The app helps the kids in appreciating the proud Indic legacy of art, science, and values that have survived over thousands of years and still thrive in our country of over 1.3 billion people. Indian culture is the oldest in the world, and this app is an effort to honor the generational legacy of passing off the knowledge to our next generation in a fun way.

Kids learn about culture through their family, school and temples. But, given a busy schedule, they end up missing out on exploring the vastness of their culture. They are too young to be given academic lessons on topics that are beyond their school curriculum. And, reading the original texts on cultural topics becomes time consuming and boring for kids’ curious minds. The founders of Indic Roots, Kritarth Yudhish and Sudhanshu Shekhar, faced the same challenge for their kids and many of their friends’ kids and decided to build this fun puzzle game to address it.

We believe that introducing cultural topics in a lightweight and fun manner will have a lasting positive impact on young minds. Thinking about 3-10 years old kids, we introduced seven key themes in our app - Indic Heroes, Indic Temples, Indic Dances, Indic Festivals, Indic Yugas, Indic Calendar Months, and Vishnu Avatars - which we believe are the topics that they would hear about from their grandparents in one form or another. Our app cannot replace the grandparents but will help in filling the gap when grandparents are not around. Each artwork is colorfully hand-drawn, aimed at capturing a child’s attention. The artwork is further supplemented with audio narration for each name to make it easy for the kid to learn the pronunciation of different characters, artifacts, festivals, calendar months, etc.

Once the kid is logged to the app, (s)he can scroll through the seven categories. Once the kid selects a particular category, (s)he can learn about different characters and artifacts via the ‘learn’ button. Kids can also play a fun drag and drop matching game by clicking on the ‘play’ button.

INDIC HEROES theme introduces the heroes with the names starting with English alphabets A-Z. For example, in the Indic Heroes category, if kids select the alphabet ‘B’, they can learn about Bhisma and Bheema.

INDIC TEMPLES introduces 12 key temples Akshardham, Angkor Wat, Chousath Yogini, Hampi, Kashi Vishwanath, Kailasa, Kamakhya, Kedarnath, Mathura Krishna Janmasthan, Martand Sun Temple, Meenakshi Temple, and Shri Ram Ayodhya temple.

INDIC DANCES theme introduces India’s dance forms with the names starting with English alphabets A-Z. For example, in the Indic Dances category, if kids select the alphabet ‘B’, they can learn about Bhangra, Bharatanatyam, and Bihu.

INDIC FESTIVALS theme introduces our main festivals

INDIC CALENDAR theme introduces Indic month names and the corresponding English months in addition to providing details about the month and which festivals fall in it.

INDIC YUGAS theme introduces the concept of the 4 yugas

VISHNU AVATAR theme introduces the 10 avatars of Bhagwan Vishnu - Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashuram, Ram, Balaram, Krishna, and Kalki.

In addition to learning, the kids can play a fun “drag-and-match” game and win points. Learning about all the items within a category unlocks a category specific JACKPOT game that allows the kids to get closer to winning all the reward points. We promise to reward the kids who would complete all the possible matches in the app with soft toys and other rewards.

We understand and appreciate that there are many more themes, characters, and languages that can be added, and we intend to expand our offerings in the future with your support and appreciation. We will appreciate your feedback and suggestions.
